Empowering Communities Through Digital Skills Training
In 2024, Siaya Community Library (SCL) launched the Enhancing Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement Project in partnership with APC (Association for Progressive Communications) and Rhizomatica. This initiative was designed to build digital skills among teachers, parents, and children, ensuring that all members of the community can thrive in an increasingly digital world.
About the Project
The project aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively use digital technologies, fostering lifelong learning while enhancing community engagement. By piloting this program in 10 schools, SCL reached diverse groups within the community, creating a holistic approach to digital literacy that included:
- Teachers, who integrated digital tools into their teaching methodologies.
- Parents, who gained confidence in using technology to support their children’s education.
- Children, who learned foundational digital skills essential for the 21st century.
